Catalogue Note
The present models also exist with their attributes, Cupid and a hound, respectively. Previously given to Tiziano Aspetti by Planiscig (op. cit., 1921, p. 565, fig. 619), these models of Venus and Adonis are now associated with the workshop of Campagna. See two similar figures in La Spezia (Avery 1998, op. cit., cat. nos. 113 and 114).
