  • each door excluding surrounds 398cm. high, 72cm. wide; 13ft., 2ft. 3in.
comprising three pairs with gilt-brass 'cannister' hardware together with adapted George II carved and white painted window surrounds, circa 1735

Provenance

Ordered by William Spencer Cavendish, 6th Duke of Devonshire (1790-1857) as part of the creation of The Ballroom and the adjacent circular staircase at Devonshire House designed by Decimus Burton and John Gregory Crace in the early 1840s.

Condition

Good overall condition but would benefit from a clean and a polish. The gilt bronze is tarnished with some pitting and there are old marks and scratches throughout. Very impressive.
