Condition

This condition report has been provided by Hamish Dewar, Hamish Dewar Ltd. Replica Handbags Conservation, 14 Masons Yard, Duke Street, St James's, London SW1Y 6BU. The 5 paintings are each constructed out of separate panels which are displayed together with vertical joins which are visible in the catalogue photographs. Lots 89, 90, 91 and 92 are each comprised of three separate panels and Lot 88 is four separate panels. There are also horizontal joins which have been filled and retouched. The overall structural condition of the five paintings is generally stable but there are some areas of flaking along the horizontal joins and some small chips on the vertical edges. Paint surface The paint surface of all five paintings do have retouchings most noticeably along the horizontal joins which run across the paint surfaces. These and other retouchings have discoloured and some are visible in natural light as well as under ultra-violet light. A number of other retouchings are visible under ultra-violet light. The paintings would also appear to have slightly discoloured varnish layers. Summary The paint surface would therefore appear to be in reasonably good and stable condition although it should be noted that a number of retouchings have been applied.

Catalogue Note

The composition of the present work was inspired by Sert's involvement with Diaghilev and the Russian Ballet, first in the staging of Joseph in 1914, and subsequently in the 1916 production of Las Meninas composed by Fauré.
