The prince is portrayed seated at ease upon a low platform viewing folios from an open album lying before him.
Panawada was possibly one of the jagirs or associate principalities of Isarda and the ruling prince could have had his portrait painted during a visit to the Isarda court.

Condition
Fair overall condition. Abrasions and stains to green ground. Paper loss on upper right corner and lower right corner has been restored and toned in. An area of water staining on lower right edge. Minor abrasions to pigment on the white jama of the ruler, red skirt of the seated lady and the picture she holds up as well as the dress of the attendant at the far right are clearly visible in the catalogue illustration.

Catalogue Note
The present and following lots are executed in the artist Wajid's distinctive style, with the figures placed in a strict linear arrangement over a chocolate brown carpet in the foreground, which is decorated with large ogival motifs filled in with a floral pattern all over.
