the curved back in three sections above a wide rectangular seat with rounded corners and waisted apron with beaded edges continuing on four straight legs of square section terminating in cabriole ruyi-head feet on a conforming stretcher, scrolled corner brackets under the seat, the sides, back and seat decorated with gilt roundels depicting phoenix among fruiting peach branches, all against a ground of scrolling flowers and foliage with cranes in flight bearing lingzhi fungus, leiwen border to edge of seat, floral and archaic scrolls to base, three yellow silk cushions (4)

cracks and scattered chipping to extremities, craqelure to base; lacquer to back, seat top and edge and lower stretcher refreshed, traces of old decoration on top of seat, loss to end of one scroll bracket to front right leg
