Catalogue Note

A Lohan and lion cub soapstone group of this deep-red color is rare, as is the depiction of such playfulness between the figure and beast. A 17th century example of yellow color was sold in our Hong Kong rooms, 31st October 2004, lot 126. A rare signed carving of milky-white tone was sold in these rooms, 29th November 1993, lot 70.
