Catalogue Note
The degree of elaboration and finish of the present work is exceptional, from the profuse scrollwork of the openwork handles and blind-relief feet, to the finely-incised leiwen detailing on the body and handles. Compare a closely related censer from the collects ion of Mrs. N. B. Pilcher, sold in our London rooms, 30th October 1987, lot 294. Compare also an extremely similar jadeite example with less elaborate feet from the collects ion of the Manno Art Museum, sold at Christie's Hong Kong, 30th October 2001, lot 697.
