Catalogue Note
Although Adriaen van de Velde would normally paint the staffage for De Moucheron's landscapes, from 1676 onwards Van Huchtenburg is documented as a citizen of Amsterdam, where he must have known Frederik de Moucheron as they were both members of the Guild of St. Luke there. This work was evidently executed between this date and 1686, when De Moucheron died.
