"The following condition report has been provided by Henry Gentle, an independent restorer who is not an employee of Replica Shoes 's. The original canvas is lined and has been slightly trimmed on the right and left edges. The paint layer is stable but the coarse weave of the canvas is prominent through the thin paint of the background and the hair of the boy. There is a restored tear through the brow and into the forehead of the boy. Under U-V light can be seen a small scattering of retouchings and the remains of a patchy varnish across the surface."
