Catalogue Note
We are grateful to Fred Meijer who, on the basis of photographs, has confirmed the attribution to the "Pseudo van Kessel."
This work is very close to several other works on copper, long-attributed to Jan van Kessel the Younger (1654-1708). These works are now identified as by a distinct but, as yet, unidentified hand, grouped under the name the "Pseudo van Kessel."
