Catalogue Note
The form of the present commode relates to a series of pieces known to have been supplied by Thomas Chippendale for Paxton House, Berwickshire and Nostell Priory, Yorkshire. The handles on this lot are also almost identical to the handles featured on pieces in both of these houses and which are known to have been favoured by Chippendale.
