Description

  • 88cm. high, 143cm. wide, 64cm. deep; 2ft. 10 1/2 in., 4ft. 8 1/2 in., 2ft 1 1/2 in.
of bombé form, with a moulded serpentine brèche d'Alep marble top, above two long drawers, framed with a `c' scroll and rocaille cartouche, with similarly mounted sides, the knees with pierced and acanthus cast mounts, above a shaped apron, on cabriole legs, with elaborately scrolled and floral cast rocaille mounts throughout 



redecorated in the 19th century, including the mounts

The decoration of this commode with its segmentally veneered central cartouche is inspired by the work of Léonard Boudin as it was a device commonly used by him on furniture, see for example Kjellberg, op. cit., pp. 87-89.

Léonard Boudin(1735-1807) received Master 1761.
