Literature

The Shrublands inventory of 1860, p.112 records in the Indian Satin Room a `Six feet three inch bedstead with shaped end, frame and tester cornice with ormolu and gilt mountings, end and cornice of stained birds eye maple..'  It is possible that the present lot was originally the bed referred to in this inventory and has been adapted at a later date to form window pelmets.
