4 volumes, 8vo (226 x 135 mm). Second edition of vol. I, first editions of vols. II-IV; early ownership signatures, occasional minor spotting, vol. III a bit toned, with occasional small printed marginalia laid in. Contemporary calf, title labels to spines; rebacked, retaining some of the original spines, vols. I, III & IV reinforced along hinges, vol. II joints weak but holding, scattered soiling and old repairs to boards.  


Mixed issue of an important milestone in American legal publishing. This series includes the first compiled reports of the United States Supreme Court, assembled by the Court's official reporter, A. J. Dallas, who used his own funds for the publishing venture.
