An Assembled Meissen Ornithological Part-Service, Late 18th/19th Century


painted with vignettes of birds perched in branches, the cavettos with further pairs of birds in branches with insects at the ozier-moulded borders, gilt-edged rims, comprising:

14 plates, 9 1/8 in. diam.;

12 soup plates, 9 1/4 in. diam.;

1 large oval tureen and cover with figural knop and a stand, width of tureen 15 1/2 in., 39.4 cm, width of stand 18 in.;

1 oval two-handled tureen and cover with figural knop and a stand, width 11 1/4 in., with of stand 13 in.;

2 oval stands, width 10 1/2 in.;

and a large circular charger, 14 in. diam.,

crossed swords marks in underglaze-blue, impressed numerals,

together with 2 Meissen plates of a different design, painted with birds and flowers, 9 5/8 in. diam., 37 pieces.
