modelled with a lady reclining on her bed holding a pastry and chocolate cup, with her husband peering over the end of the bed and Cupid hiding behind her, the gilt scroll-edged bed painted with birds in branches at each end, with blue Imperial cypher of Nicholas I


length 21 cm; 8 1/4 in.

Acquired by the parents of the present owners in the 1990s. 

This rare model was originally created by J. J. Kaendler at the Meissen Factory in 1771 and the full ensemble would have included a separate figure depicting a mystery lover hiding under the bed.
