of baluster form with inward scrolling acanthus gilt handles, each side with a painted scene framed by a gilt border with ciselé rosettes, the front of one vase with views of Palace Square in St Petersburg, the other with a St Petersburg palace, both with floral panels on the reverse, the neck of each vase gilt with stylised flowers and rosettes, the ground of each vase cobalt blue, each vase incised with factory mark under base
