John I. Post and Mary Bartrim, both born in 1796, married in 1815 and had six children. John was a farmer in Franklin, Bergen County, New Jersey. The matrimonial record is by the same hand that painted Sibel Cobb’s birth record from Morris County, see lot 120 in the Americana online sale. Both records have a pair of red breasted and blue winged birds and similar flowers. This matrimonial record was made nine years later than Sibel Cobb’s birth record and is considerably larger.
