Dalí’s Fantastic Beach Scene, perhaps inspired by his native Cadaqués, feels at once both dreamlike and tangible. Though typically a serene space, the beach becomes a dramatic psychological terrain in this print, populated by precisely etched, elongated figures and shifting forms which hover between solidity and dissolution.

A rare subject, examples of this work scarcely appear at auction, with only a few impressions printed in black, and a few in sepia, according to Michler-Löpsinger. This particular impression was once in the collects ion of Surrealist author, editor and collects or Noël Arnaud.
