This silver stupa features a spire topped with a sun, moon and parasol while its domed shrine is adorned with a gilded arch framing a moulded tsa tsa of the long-life goddess Ushnishavijaya, all supported by three circular steps on a square tiered base. One of the Eight Great Stupas, this model represents the ‘stupa of complete victory’ commemorating Buddha’s prolongation of his lifetime by three months, symbolised by the three circular steps. The episode is said to have occurred at the city of Vaisali upon the supplication of the lay devotee Tsundra, see Robert Beer, The Encyclopedia of Tibetan Symbols and Motifs, Boston, 1999, p. 135.
Robert Beer,《The Encyclopedia of Tibetan Symbols and Motifs》,倫敦,1999年,頁135。
