For candelabra in the same style with a marble base, scrollwork branches and pendants, see The Collection of Mr and Mrs Stephen C. Hilbert, Important French and English Furniture, Replica Shoes ’s, New York, 24 May 2007, lot 19; see also a pair of candelabra with a stem imitating porphyry, Replica Shoes 's, New York, 13 April 2016, lot 29.

Our pair of girandoles features a decoration inspired by French Neoclassicism, notably with satyrs seated on the shafts, which echo the models created by Pierre Gouthière on a pair of ewers bearing the bronze artist's signature, now in the Frick Collection in New York (inv. 1988.143.1-2), with handles also formed as satyrs.
