The presentation inscription reads "To Sir George Abercromby of Birkenbog and Forglen Bart and the Honble. Dame Jane Ogilvie his spouse as a token of filial affection and intended to commemorate as an example to their posterity those virtues which have eminently adorned their lives in their marriage state during half a century, Forglen House August 1828."
The arms are those of Sir George Abercromby, 4th Bt., born in 1750. He married in 1778 the Hon. Jane Ogilvie, eldest daughter of Alexander, 7th Lord Banff, by whom Sir George succeeded to the estates of the House of Banff. The inscription records it's presentation on August 12, 1828 to mark their 50th wedding anniversary.
