This Paris porcelain set is characteristic of pieces made during the Restauration period, which saw a mix of materials and colours in a floral style with pastel colours, a change from the dark materials favoured during the Empire period. Gold is still very much present, however, and the taste for antiques remains strong with these large neoclassical flower garlands.
Our set is a rare complete example of porcelain and reflects Jean-Marie Rossi's taste for French porcelain. In 1988, he and his wife donated a Galatea tray, made around 1820 by the Nast factory, to the Louvre Museum.
