Where Shall John Go? XIII - Jamaica, Horizon, Vol. XVI, December 1947

8vo, INSCRIBED by author to cover, "for Edith for Christmas | Ian", blue wrappers, wrappers slightly worn and soiled

PRESENTATION COPY OF FLEMING'S FIRST PUBLISHED LITERARY EFFORT.

This early lyrical description of Jamaica by Fleming is inscribed to Lady Edith Berry, Viscountess Kemsley. It was the author's first literary effort published for general circulation. Lady Berry was the wife of Viscount Kemsley, owner of the Kemsley group and Ian's employer. Fleming was more than an employee to the Kemsleys. He called them both by their first names, and frequently saw them in a social context.

Gilbert, C14.
