Compare to the slightly earlier Heers Peter and Paul by the eponymous Master, particularly the face of Saint Peter, and a seated St Peter in the Victoria and Albert Museum (Steyaert, op. cit., no 67a-B), attributed to the Mosan region, specifically Liège. The figure would almost certainly originally have been part of a large retable showing all the apostles. Comparison for the forked beard and tilted head can be found in St Christopher figures from Malines, see for instance Replica Shoes 's New York, 29 February 1987, lot 26.
