ITALIAN, 18TH CENTURY | BUST OF THE VIRGIN

This serene bust of the Virgin bears some similarities to the work of the North Italian 18th-century sculptors Giuseppe (1675-1735) and Paolo Groppelli (1677-1751) who produced a series of religious architectural sculpture in the Veneto and, further afield, mythological statues for the Summer Garden in Saint Petersburg.
