A large German silver-gilt cup and cover, Heinrich Staub, Nurnberg, 1628

the waisted tapering cylindrical body chased with lobes and foliage scrolls, on lobed spreading foot and with vase shaped stem with applied foliage and scroll brackets, the conforming cover with later figural finial, engraved at the rim with an inscription, the cover applied inside with a plaque and further later engraved with an inscription dated 1692, the inscription around the rim translates as 'Night March 1628, the Guild Members had this Cup made and the present senior Guild Members were the following: Ruprecht Schuer, Assmis Gremeissen, Hanns Endres Schnieder, Lienhart Hoffman Ect and then members of this Guild Rottschmidtgefflen'
