Elongated lobed cups of this type with chased decoration are shaped after a Sassanian gold and silver prototype. This oblong octofoil shaped dish is lavishly decorated on the exterior with hunting scenes pursuing hares and resting birds amidst lush foliage. A comparable dish in the Hakutsuru Art Museum, Kobe, is illustrated in Hakatsuru Bijutsukan zohin zuroku [Illustrated Catalogue of Pieces in the Hakutsuru Replica Handbags Museum], Hakatsuru Replica Handbags Museum, Kobe, 1988, pl.59; another example from the collection of Pierre Uldry, is published in in Chinesisches Gold und Silber: die Sammlung Pierre Uldry, Museum Rietberg Zurich, Zurich, 1994, pl.139; and a third cup in quatrefoil shape, from the collection of Dr. Johan Carl Kempe (1884-1967), was sold in these rooms, 14 May 2008, lot 53, and again at Christie's New York, 12 September 2019, lot 554.
