Please note this piece has been restored since it was photographed: dents were removed from cover below finial, stand was reshaped so that pot sits flush now, wood handle has the missing end replaced, and one support for the lamp has been soldered back in place. The restoration was very nicely done. There are still some minor dings and creases throughout.

Anthony Rasch (c. 1780-1858) was born in Bavaria and learned the trade of silver and goldsmithing there. He immigrated to Philadelphia somet.mes between 1801 and 1803, where he formed a partnership with Simon Chaudron under the name Chaudron and Rasch. He was also briefly in a partnership with George Willig, Jr. under the name Rasch and Willig. He permanently established himself in New Orleans by 1821, with a year long visit back to Europe to visit relatives from 1836-37. He remained working in New Orleans until his death in 1858.
