This Crucifixion medallion shows all features typical of the Umbrian devotional works of art in verre eglomisé executed by the Franciscan workshops active in the production of the stained glass windows of the Chiesa Inferiore di Assisi.

The style of this Crucifixion is influenced by the artistic language of the School of Giotto and of Pietro Lorenzetti active in the Basilica di Assisi.

His function was part of programmatic campaign by the Franciscan Order to promote and widespread the figure of San Francesco whose date of death anniversary is celebrated this year.
