Cartouche-shaped, the lid and base of the caramel-coloured agate body inlaid in gold, silver and burgau shell and mother-of-pearl to represent architectural capricci by a lake, polished gold mounts, the sides decorated with mother-of-pearl and coral appliqué insects in the manner of Hoffman, the base with substantial losses to inlay, French prestige marks including maker’s mark for Adrien Jean Maximilien Vachette and Paris 3eme titre 1809-1819
