A gilt-metal heart-form verge watch with stackfreed in late 16th/early 17th century style

19th/20th century

• Movement: heart-form unsigned gilded full plate, verge escapement, single-arm steel balance with hog's bristle regulator, stackfreed mounted to the backplate

• Dial: gilded, chapter ring with Roman numerals and half hour divisions between, inner 24-hour ring, the dial centre and border decorated with engraved foliate scrolls and bearing the year 1591 

• Case: cast silver-gilt, the front and back covers centred with a putto surrounded by garlands of fruit and foliage, the band similar decorated and with memento mori
