Property from a Distinguished Private collects ion

A George III gilt-brass and cut-glass chandelier, late 18th/early 19th century, in the manner of Parker and Perry


the corona hung with drops, the six shaped branches and spires issuing from a baluster stem profusely hung with drops, the lower canopy with faceted ball finial, restorations and replacements

approximately 120cm. high, 50cm. diameter; 4ft., 1ft. 5in.

Acquired from Hotspur Ltd., London.
The present chandelier is attributable to Messrs. Parker and Perry and relates to one of a pair supplied for the Dining Room at Arbury Hall, Nuneaton in 1788 (see Martin Mort.mes r, The English Glass Chandelier, England, 2000, p.101, pl. 47). Founded by William Parker (d.1784) in Fleet Street, the firm continued under his son Samuel, who in 1803 formed a partnership with William Perry and went on to supply chandeliers for Carlton House from 1808 and later for the Royal Pavilion at Brighton.
