The New-York Pocket Almanack, for the Year 1759. Calculated for the Use of the Province of New-York, and the neighbouring Provinces. By Poor Tom, Philomath. New-York: Printed and Sold by H[ugh]. Gaine, at the Bible & Crown in Hanover-Square, [1758]

12mo (115 x 65 mm). 24 printed leaves, interleaved with numerous blank leaves for annotations, below the imprint on the title-page is a table of "Signs, Planets, and Aspects," with a full-page woodcut "Exact Plan of the Harbour of Louisbourg"; lacking the frontispiece portrait of Frederick the Second of Prussia, sometimes called for, a very few border just shaved rules at top. Orange-gilt pastepaper wrappers; rubbed.

A very rare Hugh Gaine almanac containing information about the French and Indian War supplied by both the publisher and, in manuscript, by the volume's first owner. One copy of this almanac appears in the auction records: the Robert Proud copy sold by Henkels, 8 May 1903, lot 256 for the then-considerable price of $50. ESTC locates two copies, at the Historical Society of Pennsylvania and the Nova Scotia Public Archives. Eavns attributes the calculations to Theophilus Grew.
