Schmitt is pictured facing the camera with the lunar module to his right and the lunar rover and American flag to his left. Apollo 17 was the final manned Moon landing, making Mission Commander Eugene Cernan and Lunar Module Pilot Harrison Schmidt the eleventh and twelfth men (respectively) to have walked on the Moon’s surface.
