60% Pinot Noir, 40% Chardonnay. 16% went through malolactic fermentation. What an example of old vines on chalk, precise but also approachable, with similarities to 1996, but better, probably because they picked a week later. In 2019, the bouquet has become more nutty - cherry kernels. This had more t.mes on the lees than the 1996, which gives the unbelievably full taste, superb texture, plus flavours of hazelnuts, lemons and yuzu. The wines in this collects ion were acquired almost entirely through direct allocations from leading producers’ agents in the UK and Hong Kong, selected with uncompromising attention to authenticity and traceability. Strengthened by the collects or’s longstanding relationships and his regular visits to Burgundy and Bordeaux, the cellar reflects two decades of careful sourcing and consistently impeccable provenance.
