Natural pearl, emerald and diamond necklace

early 20th century


Designed as a row of graduated natural pearls measuring from approximately 3.6mm - 7.2mm, to a navette-shaped clasp set with calibré-cut emeralds and circular-cut diamonds, length approximately 488mm, one emerald deficient.


Accompanied by a gemmological report.

This necklace was formerly in the collection of Martha Zapp née Boeddinghaus (1874 - 1955), wife of Gustav Zapp (b. 1863). She received the necklace as wedding gift from her husband's uncle and adoptive father Dr Manfred Zapp. The Zapp family are an entreprenurial dynasty most known for their global steel trading business founded in 1871 in Düsseldorf by Robert Zapp (1837 - 1917), father-in-law to Martha. The company continues to be in business today as Zapp Group, an international group of companies in the field of metal working based in Ratingen, Germany.
