A Meissen Chinoiserie Beaker, Circa 1727


painted, in the manner of J. E. Stadler, with a Chinoiserie figure holding a fan, standing on a mound beside a fence and a large branch issuing sprays of indianische Blumen, above concentric circles in iron-red, the interior with a band of gilt-scrollwork, gilt-rims, crossed swords mark in blue enamel


height 3 1/4 in., 8.3 cm

Sotheby's Scientific Research department used noninvasive XRF for this lot to screen the green enamel for chromium, which was not detected.
