A Meissen Chinoiserie Coffee Pot and Cover, Circa 1728
of pear shape, painted with figures at various pursuits in gardens within Böttger lustre and iron-red diaper, iron-red, puce and gilt scrollwork-edged shaped quatrefoil cartouches and sprays of indianische Blumen, the cover painted with similar Chinoiserie figures above iron-red concentric circles, crossed swords mark in underglaze-blue, both with gilt numeral 21. or Z1., incised Dreher's mark /

Sotheby's Scientific Research department used noninvasive XRF for this lot to screen the green enamel for chromium, which was not detected.
