A Minton cabinet plate of Sèvres Catherine the Great service pattern
circa 1884
the rich decoration incorporating the central interlaced LL monogram of Lothian surmounted with a Marquess' coronet, reserved on a turquoise enamel ground with bands of flowers, cameos and raised gilded scrollwork, crowned MINTONS globe mark, retailer T. GOODE & Co., impressed date code for 1884,
25.7cm., 10⅛in. diam.
In the 19th century the Minton factory produced copies or replacements to be used alongside the original Sèvres 18th century service by the Russian Imperial court. For further reading see E.
