ITALIAN, 16TH CENTURY | INTAGLIO WITH SAINT STEPHEN OR THE INFANT CHRIST

This beautiful pendant may come from the same workshop as a very similar rock crystal in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York (Robert Lehman Collection, inv. no. 1975.1.1493), which depicts Christ in profile and is catalogued as Italian, Ferrara, 16th century. The intaglio is imbued with an appealing purity of line.
