rectangular, the lid and each side painted with allegorical scenes framed by colourful rocailles heightened in gilding and entwined with floral garlands, the lid interior finely painted with a portrait of King Augustus III of Poland and Elector Frederick of Saxony (1697-1763), possibly by Johann Martin Heinrici after Anton Raphael Mengs (1728-1779), the base interior painted in purple monochrome with a tresllis pattern enclosing AR monograms, silver-gilt mounts chased with rocailles and flowers, fully hallmarked,
