Description

oval bombé form, the lid painted with chinoiserie figures at various pursuits above supports in Böttger-lustre and gildingthe lid interior and the sides with similar scenes and each end with indianische Blumen, the base with pink and purple indianische Blumen on a green diaper-pattern ground, the rose-gold mounts with chased scallop pattern, blue crossed swords and K.P.M. mark in underglaze-blue to interior,

Cranfield University used non-invasive X-ray fluorescence (XRF) for this lot to screen the green enamel for chromium, which was not detected, a result consistent with eighteenth century manufacture.
