Keith Moon’s “Pictures of Lily” drum kit—from which this floor tom originates—is undeniably regarded as the most famous rock 'n' roll drum kit. Received in 1967 while the Who was on tour in the United States, Moon used the iconic kit for performances in 1967 and 1968. The custom artwork, made at Moon’s direction, featured nude photos of Victorian actress Lillie Langtry, the subject of the Who's 1967 single “Pictures of Lily.” The imagery also incorporated a Union Jack and psychedelic-style text that states: Keith Moon Patent British Exploding Drummer, a reference to Moon's inclination to pack his drum shells with gun powder and light them on stage.
