If art is one of the most perceptive and accurate ways to understand human psychology, to bring to light the truth of an individual, it can also try to express not the identity of a person but of a humanity, of a group of men confronted with t.mes and history. Art takes on a legendary dimension in A.R. Penck's work when he seeks to represent the games, signs, languages, songs of gestures of this humanity.

Si l'art est l'un des moyens les plus perspicaces et les plus justes pour comprendre la psychologie humaine, pour mettre en lumière la vérité d'un individu, il peut également tenter d'exprimer non plus l'identité d'une personne mais d'une humanité, d'un groupe d'hommes confrontés au temps et à l'histoire. L'art prend une dimension légendaire chez A.R. Penck quand il cherche à représenter les jeux, les signes, les langages, les chansons de gestes de cette humanité.
