Description
A Sèvres-style boat-shaped pot-pourri vase and cover, 19th century
after a pot-pourri gondole, the moulded and piereced oval body reserved with panels of putti among clouds and garlands within green-ground sections, the pierced cover surmounted by a flower finial, supported by scroll feet, imitation interlaced L's mark enclosing date letter E, old inventory numbers

This pot pourri is a copy of a vase, cover and stand modelled by Duplessis and introduced at Sèvres in 1756, an example of which is in the Metropolitan Museum, New York, acc. no. 58.75.88a-c. Other versions of the original vase are in the Wallace Collection, London and a simpler version without the base in the the State Hermitage Museum, St Petersburg.
