Caliber: cal. 321 manual winding, 17 jewels

Movement number: 18’419’198

Case: stainless steel

Closure: stainless steel Omega bracelet and folding clasp, stamped 7912 and dated 1.61, end links stamped 6

Dimensions: 38 mm, bracelet circumference approx. 180 mm

Signed: case, dial and movement

Accessories: Accompanied by an Extract from the Archives confirming date of manufacture on August 15, 1962 and subsequent delivery to Colombia. 

The 2998-61 was the second to last iteration of the 2998, and continued to solidify the look of the reference. It still retained the applied Omega logo, Alpha hour and minute hands and baton subdial hands. There still remained no ‘Professional’ designation to the dial, and the chronograph hand retained the small luminous spear tip. This subreference was replaced with the 2998-62. The 2998-6, -61 and -62 can be considered transitional models which were produced between 1962 and 1963. They precede the 105.002 which only differs by the change of reference to adopt Omega’s new Mapics coding.
