A PATINATED BRONZE AND GRIOTTE MARBLE 'THREE GRACES' CLOCK, BY VICTOR PAILLARD, AFTER THE MODEL BY GERMAIN PILON, FRENCH, CIRCA 1855
4¼-inch enamel dial inscribed A Paris, the movement with Brocot escapement and suspension and rack striking on a bell, stamped to the backplate for Pons 1827, Rodier A Paris and VR. Paillard A Paris, numbered 998, mounted within a triple concave-sided gilt-mounted griotte marble plinth with patinated seated winged cherubs at each corner, surmounted by a patinated bronze depicting the Three Graces, (Aglaea, Euphrosyne, and Thalia), supporting a gilt-bronze lidded urn, after the original marble by Germain Pilon, the underside applied with the cachet 'Réduction Mécanique, A Collas'
