The first Aldine edition, and the first to be edited by Giovanni Giocondo.


8vo (159 x 97 mm). Italic type, 30 lines plus headline. collation: A-B8 C4 a-z8 aa-oo8: 316 leaves (kk7 blank). Woodcut Aldine device on title-page, kk8 and final verso, double-page woodcut map of Gaul with early coloring, five woodcut illustrations. (Some staining to early leaves.)


binding: Early twentieth-century crushed brown morocco (169 x 116 mm), the letter A within a six-pointed star on upper cover, and the letter M on lower cover. (Extremities a trifle rubbed.)
