SPALDING BASKETBALL

Circa 1992

Offered in this lot is a basketball signed by members of the 1991–92 Chicago Bulls, with “Chicago Bulls 1992 World Champions” painted on the ball. Coming off their first NBA title, Chicago entered the season with heightened expectations and responded by setting a new standard. The Bulls finished the regular season at 67–15, the best record in the league, confirming that their breakthrough was no one-year surge.

At the core of that success were Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen, whose partnership reached a new level during the season. Pippen continued to grow into one of the game’s most complete players, contributing across scoring, playmaking, and defense. Under the direction of head coach Phil Jackson, the triangle offense fully took shape and became one of the league’s most effective systems.

That control was evident throughout the year. Both Jordan and Pippen were named NBA All-Stars, and Jackson was selected to coach the Eastern Conference team after Chicago entered the All-Star break with the league’s top record. It was a clear midseason marker of a team operating with confidence and cohesion.

The playoffs only reinforced that standing. Chicago advanced through the Eastern Conference and met the Portland Trail Blazers in the NBA Finals. The Bulls prevailed in six games, securing their second straight championship and establishing themselves as the league’s standard.

Signed by members of the title-winning roster, this basketball represents the season when the Bulls confirmed that their first championship was not an endpoint, but the start of sustained dominance.

This ball was signed by Scottie Pippen, Michael Jordan, B.J. Armstrong, Bill Cartwright, Horace Grant, Bob Hansen, Craig Hodges, Dennis Hopson, Stacey King, Cliff Levingston, Chuck Nevitt, John Paxson, Will Perdue, Mark Randall, Rory Sparrow, and Scott Williams. This basketball comes directly from the Collection of Scottie Pippen.

The basketball is also accompanied by a letter from James Spence Authentication in regards to the signatures.
